1. Introduction

The primary aim of this study is to assess the effect of rosuvastatin (CREST) on lipid profile in patients with idiopathic hypercholesterolemia (HCH) and to elucidate the role of statins in HCH in the treatment of HCH. We examined the effects of rosuvastatin on lipid profile in patients with HCH, and evaluated the relationship between rosuvastatin dose and HCH severity, and the effects of statins on lipid levels in patients with HCH. Additionally, the relationship between rosuvastatin dose and HCH severity and lipid profile was investigated. The study was approved by the institutional review board of our hospital (approval number: P-NCT00127887).

2. Materials and Methods

2.1. Study Population

Patients with HCH, a co-morbid disease, and a normal HSC (control) were eligible for this study. Patients with HCH who had undergone at least two HCH surgeries (including aortic or coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG) were excluded. Patients with a history of other heart disease, history of other cardiovascular diseases, and a history of HCH (including heart surgery, myocardial infarction, or other concomitant disease) were excluded from the study.

2.2. Data Collection

Patients with a mean age of 35.1 years (± SD = 36.0) were included in the study. According to the American Heart Association (AHA) classification, HCH was classified into a category of HCH (defined as CHD [defined as a maximum of three CHD events for ≥5 years and no additional CHD event for ≥1 year]) and idiopathic hypercholesterolemia (iHCH) as a group of patients with HCH. For the analysis of the HCH groups, patients were classified according to their AHA classification into HCH, with a maximum of three CHD events for ≥5 years. Patients with a history of other heart disease, concomitant diseases, or a history of HCH were excluded from the study.

2.3.

According to the AHA classification, HCH was classified into a group of patients with a maximum of three CHD events for ≥5 years. Patients with a history of other heart disease, concomitant diseases, or a history of HCH were excluded.

3. Results

The distribution of the patients in the study population is shown in. In the study population, the mean age was 33.5 years (± SD = 36.8) and 33% of patients were diagnosed with HCH. The results of the HCH group were similar to those of the HCH group; however, the patients with a maximum of three CHD events for ≥5 years had more advanced age, higher AHA classification, and HCH group AHA classification. The patients with a mean age of 34.1 years (± SD = 36.1) were included in the study. In the HCH group, the patients with a maximum of three CHD events for ≥5 years had more advanced age, higher AHA classification, and HCH group AHA classification. There were more patients in the HCH group with a mean age of 37.2 years (± SD = 36.6) in the study population. In addition, patients with a mean age of 37.3 years (± SD = 36.6) in the study population had more advanced age, higher AHA classification, and HCH group AHA classification. Patients with a mean age of 31.3 years (± SD = 36.3) in the study population had more advanced age, higher AHA classification, and HCH group AHA classification. There were more patients in the HCH group with a mean age of 33.5 years (± SD = 36.6) in the study population. In the HCH group with a mean age of 35.1 years (± SD = 36.0), the patients with a mean age of 32.4 years (± SD = 36.
